FF—-FOREVER FAITHFUL

Corporal Jeffrey Lee Nashton is a former Marine Corps sergeant in the US.

On Oct. 23, 1983, a suicide bomber drove a truck load of explosives into the Marine Camp at Beirut International Airport, Lebanon, killing 241 soldiers.
Nashton, a lance corporal, just 23 at that time, was among those severely injured in the attack.

Nashton had many tubes, running in and out of his body, with grave injuries all over.
A witness would say, that ‘he looked more like a machine than a man’.

Yet, he survived!

It is said, that two days after the bombing, while lying on the hospital bed in Weisbaden, Germany…
… in deep pain and agony, Nashton scribbled two words on a note and gave to his commander, Marine Commandant Paul X. Kelley.

The two words on the note read: “Semper Fi”

“Semper Fi” is the Latin motto of the Marines.
It means: “Forever Faithful!”

The pledge of “Semper Fi”…
… strengthened the injured man, in his moments of agony and struggle!
… became the reason for the wounded person, to remain steadfast in the face of anguish!

However, life seemingly handed them something quite opposite…
Their childlessness caused to seem that the Lord had totally forgotten!

How true is this situation in our own lives too?

We bank on God’s promises that “He would provide” everything…
… but when some of our expectations fall short, we feel God is just not with us!

We feel joyful to know that God’s Providence will guide us through…
… yet, when some unforeseen and sudden mishaps happen, we feel God has forgotten us!

This is where we need to look to Zechariah and Elizabeth and be inspired by their amazing faith.

Though all possibilities of hope and expectation was “lost”, humanly speaking…
… they still kept the faith!
… they still remained true to the Lord!
… they still continued to be devout to God!

இறைப்பற்றுள்ளவர்களோடு, உனக்குத் தெரிந்தவரை கட்டளைகளைக் கடைப்பிடித்தவர்களோடு, ஒத்த கருத்து உடைவர்களோடு, நீ தவறினால் உன்னுடன் சேர்ந்து வருந்துபவர்களோடு, எவ்பொழுதும் இணைந்திரு.உன் உள்ளத்தின் அறிவுரையில் உறுதியாய் நில்;

அதைவிட நம்பத்தக்கது உனக்கு வேறெதுவுமில்லை.இவை எல்லாவற்றுக்கும்மேலாக, உன்னத இறைவனிடம் மன்றாடு. அப்பொழுது அவர் உன்னை உண்மையின் வழியில் நடத்துவார்.

The art of missions is exciting.

One of the exciting things in life, which many of us have gone through, is learning a bicycle.

These days, bicycles come with a special set of training wheels that are attached to the back wheels.
The two little wheels attached to the back wheel are there to help provide balance and confidence to the rider.

But many of us, would have also learnt the bicycle in the old-fashioned way…
the parent or a friend who ran alongside the one learning, until the rider got under way.

This person, who would be accompanying, would most often say three things, while learning this art of cycling…
Always keep the eye on the road…
… to keep the focus
Don’t lean to the left or the right side…
… to have proper balance
Remember, I am always there with you…
… to feel the confidence and trust

These three principles would help the person to learn quick this art of cycling

Like the art of cycling, the Apostles are also given some basic principles…
… the principle to keep focus
… the principle to have a proper balance
… the principle of confidence and trust

The ministry of Jesus had gained a lot of popularity.
>> There were crowds of people following Him…
>> There were multitudes of persons attracted to Him…

The Heart of the Lord is moved in empathy for these people.

The Gospel says, “When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Mt 9:36)

But as the saying goes… “Challenges are what makes life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful!”

The art of missions is exciting.
We may feel a little afraid at times…
We may sometimes even fall..

But we only need to follow some of the basic principles, coupled with His Grace…
… to be focussed on the Lord alone
… to be balanced in prayer and faithfulness
… to be trusting and being confident in His awesome power

திருவருகைக் காலத்தின் முதல் ஞாயிறு

கிறிஸ்தவ வழிபாட்டு ஆண்டின் தொடக்கத்தைக் குறிக்கும் திருவருகைக் காலத்தின் முதல் ஞாயிறுக்குள் நாம் அடியெடுத்து வைக்கிறோம்!

🕯️ முதல் ஞாயிறு பற்றிய சுருக்கம்
திருவருகைக் காலத்தின் முதல் ஞாயிறு என்பது கிறிஸ்து பிறப்பு விழாவுக்கு (கிறிஸ்துமஸ்) நான்கு வாரங்களுக்கு முன் தொடங்குகிறது.

* _நாம் கிறிஸ்து மனிதனாகப் பிறந்ததை நினைவுகூரவும்,

* அவர் மீண்டும் மகிமையுடன் வருவார் என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்புக்காகத் தங்களைத் தயார்படுத்தவும் ஆரம்பிக்கிறோம்._

திருவருகைக் கால மாலை வட்டத்தின் முதல் மெழுகுவர்த்தி, இந்த நாளில் நம்பிக்கையை (Hope) குறிக்கிறது.

✨ “Hope Endures” (நம்பிக்கை நிலைத்திருக்கிறது) ✨
இந்த முதல் ஞாயிறு மையக்கருத்தான “Hope Endures” என்பதன் பொருள்:

அர்த்தம்: நம்பிக்கை நீடிக்கிறது / நம்பிக்கை நிலைத்திருக்கிறது.

விளக்கம்: சிரமங்கள், துன்பங்கள் அல்லது நிச்சயமற்ற காலங்கள் மத்தியிலும், கடவுளின் வாக்குறுதிகள் மீதான நம்முடைய நம்பிக்கை ஒருபோதும் தளராமல், உறுதியுடன் நிலைத்திருக்கும் என்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது.

செய்தி: நம்முடைய ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் வருகையின் மீதான அசைக்க முடியாத நம்பிக்கையுடன், இந்தப் புனித காலத்தைத் தொடங்குவோம்!

Keep the candle burning

The Four Candles burned slowly.
Their ambiance was so soft you could hear them speak…

The first candle said,
“I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit.”
Then Peace’s flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

The second candle said,
“I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable.”
Then Faith’s flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

Sadly the third candle spoke,
“I Am Love and I haven’t the strength to stay lit any longer.”
“People put me aside and don’t understand my importance.
They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.”
And waiting no longer, Love went out completely.

Suddenly…

A child entered the room and saw the three candles no longer burning.

The child began to cry,

“Why are you not burning?
You are supposed to stay lit until the end.”

Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy,

“Don’t be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn,

we can re-light the other candles.”

With shining eyes, the child took the Candle of Hope

and lit the other three candles.
Never let the Flame of Hope go out.

With Hope in your life, no matter how bad things may be,

Peace, Faith and Love may shine brightly once again.

“ஆண்டவருக்கு புதியதொரு பாடல் பாடுங்கள்; ஏனெனில், அவர் வியத்தகு செயல்கள் புரிந்துள்ளார். அவருடைய வலக் கரமும் புனிதமிகு புயமும் அவருக்கு வெற்றியை அளித்துள்ளன. ஆண்டவர் தம் மீட்பை அறிவித்தார்; பிற இனத்தார் கண்முன்னே தம் நீதியை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.
இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாருக்கு வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட தமது பேரன்பையும் உறுதிமொழியையும் அவர் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார். உலகெங்குமுள அனைவரும் நம் கடவுள் அருளிய விடுதலையைக் கண்டனர். கடலும் அதில் நிறைந்தவையும் உலகும் அதில் உறைபவையும் முழங்கிடுக! ஆறுகளே! கைகொட்டுங்கள்; மலைகளே! ஒன்றுகூடுங்கள். ஆண்டவர் முன்னிலையில் மகிழ்ந்து பாடுங்கள்; ஏனெனில், அவர் உலகுக்கு நீதி வழங்க வருகின்றார்; பூவுலகை நீதியுடன் ஆண்டிடுவார்; மக்களினங்களை நேர்மையுடன் ஆட்சி செய்வார்”.

கண்ணீரோடு விதைப்பவர்களுக்கு, அக்களிப்பின் அறுவடையை அளிப்பவரே! எங்கள் அடிமனதின் அச்சத்தினை அகற்றுபவரே! எங்கள் அடிமை நிலையை மாற்றுபவரே! உம்மைப் போற்றுகின்றோம். புகழ்கின்றோம். உமக்கு நன்றி கூறுகின்றோம்.

தாயின் கருவில் நான் உருவான நாள் முதல், இன்று வரை என்னைக் கண்ணின் மணிபோலக் காத்து, வழிநடத்தும் என் நல்ல தெய்வமே உமக்கு நன்றி அப்பா.

இறைவா! “உலகில் உங்களுக்குத் துன்பம் உண்டு. எனினும் துணிவுடன் இருங்கள். நான் உலகின்மீது வெற்றி கொண்டுவிட்டேன்” என்ற உமது இறைவார்த்தையை மறந்து, துன்ப வேளைகளில் நான் மனம் சோர்ந்து, அவநம்பிக்கையில் துவண்ட நேரங்களை எண்ணி மனம் வருந்துகிறேன். மன்னிக்கும் தேவனே! மனமிரங்கி என்னை மன்னித்தருளும். தந்தையே! உம் மீது கொண்ட விசுவாசம் தொய்வுற்ற தருணங்கள், என் வாழ்வின் மோசமான காலக்கட்டங்கள் அப்பா.

“இறக்கும்வரை நம்பிக்கையோடு இரு. அவ்வாறாயின் வாழ்வை உனக்கு முடியாகச் சூட்டுவேன்” என்ற உமது இறைவார்த்தையை, நான் இன்று முதல் இறுக பற்றிக்கொள்ள இறைவா அருள் புரிவீராக!
