“Young and Vibrant at Heart”

There is a famous quotation which goes thus:
“There are two great days in a person’s life – the day we are born…
… and the day we discover why!”

One of them is easier and simpler than the other.

Its just a date and a moment in history.
It could be something like the 19th of January or the 2nd of November or the 29th of December or the 17th of June or the 28th of November or the 16th of January or the 9th of May or the 5th of August etc…

This was the day, we first made our appearance on this earth.
This day is special.

The other day is also special…
… but it’s not easy to discover it!

In fact, it is an arduous task and a patient undertaking.

That is day we figure out why we are on this Planet Earth.
That is the day we come to a greater realization of our Life.

The first day tells that I am here in this earth!
The second day would tell us “why” I am here on this earth!

To discover the meaning and purpose of life and seek to live it fully well, will make our lives satisfying and truly happy.

It could happen…
… in one day!
… over a period of some years!
… over one’s whole lifetime!
Yet, the most important thing is to “keep seeking for it and be alert for its discovery”

Am I in this all-important process of discovering “Why I am born in this world?”

Sorrow can cause two consequences to a believer….

It can make one hard, bitter, resentful and rebellious against God
or…
It can make one kinder and dependable on God!

Sorrow can cause our faith to be spoilt
or…
Sorrow can cause our faith to take deeper roots!

Each of us have a specific task and responsibility entrusted by the Lord.
> This role is proper to our own vocation as in family life or in a consecrated life.

In God’s precious eyes, there are no small or great responsibilities.
> He values and treasures each and every duty – small or big- with equal measure.
Every task, when performed with immense love and dedication has its greatness.

Anna, the old lady, “Young and Vibrant at Heart” teaches us today…

To pursue who we are to be – to discover “why I am born!”
… by Practicing a Life of Purity
… by Praying Constantly
… by Persevering Patiently
… by Proclaiming Boldly!

Happy Feast of St John the Apostle & Evangelist

St John the Apostle was truly the beloved disciple of Jesus, remained so throughout his long earthly life, and will be so forever in Heaven. An ancient story from shortly after Saint John’s death states that at the end of his life, Saint John continuously repeated to his flock, “My little children, love one another.” St John’s life can be summed up with love. God is love. We must love God, and we must love one another. Love is everything.

Today, let us ponder this love that Saint John had for his Lord and pray to him, asking him to intercede for us so that our love of God and others will greatly increase. Amen.

GIVE UP –CHEER UP–BOOST UP

There goes a simple story of a father trying to explain the importance of the season of Advent to his ten-year-old son.
>> He stresses on the need to prepare oneself well for Christmas.

The father said, “You ought to ‘give up’ something in Advent; something you will really miss, like for example, chocolates!”

The boy thought for a moment, then asked, “What are you giving up, Daddy?” “I’m giving up liquor,” the father replied.
>> “But before dinner you were drinking something” the boy protested. “Oh! That was only wine” said the father “I gave up hard liquor”

To which the boy replied, “Well then, I think even I’ll give up hard chocolates!!”

‘Giving up’ completely, in life, becomes a hard challenge and a difficult task.
>> But only in going through the tough way, can one obtain true success in life.
Only by giving up human interests in favor of God’s choices, can one find heavenly bliss!

Today, each one of is being invited and challenged to “give up” things in life…

“Give up”…
… our will in favour of God’s Will in our lives.
… our sinful tendencies to allow purity and holiness to overshadow us.
… our selfish desires and interests to make space for the needs of others.

“Give up”…
… our personal time of comfort and luxury to give more time to the Lord.
… our judgmental attitudes and embrace the spirit of gentleness and forgiveness.
… our wrecking feelings of brokenness and let in God’s presence and grace to heal us.

No doubt that this “giving up” is a hard task and even might seem “impossible” to us.

MORNING PRAYER

இன்று ஒரு சிந்தனை!

அறிவு என்பது, புதையல் பெட்டகம் என்றால், பயிற்சியே அதன் திறவுகோல்; முயற்சி இருந்தால், செல்லும் பாதையெல்லாம், வெல்லும் பாதைகள் தான்!

வாழ்க்கை என்பது, பந்தயம் அல்ல ஓடி சென்று முதலிடம் பிடிக்க, அது ஒரு அழகான பயணம், ஒவ்வொன்றையும் அனுபவித்து ரசித்து நகர வேண்டும், அது காட்டும் பாதையில்!!

சிலருக்கு வரும் துன்பமும், துயரமும் பொதுவானதுதான், கையாளும் விதம்தான் வெவ்வேறானது; சிலர் தடுமாறி முயலாமல் முடங்கிடலாம், சிலர் விடாமல் முயன்று சாதித்து தடம் பதிக்கின்றனர்!!!

இரவு ஜெபம்

எம் இரக்கத்தின் ஊற்றே இறைவா! எங்கள் மூதாதையரான இஸ்ரேல் மக்கள், உம்மை விட்டு பலதடவை விலகிச் சென்றாலும், அவர்களை மன்னித்து என்னிலடங்கா அற்புதங்களை செய்தீர்கள். செங்கடலை இரண்டாக பிரித்து, தரையிலே நடக்கச் செய்தீர். பாறையைப் பிளந்து, தண்ணீர் பொங்கிவர செய்தீர். வானத்திலிருந்து மன்னா என்ற உணவை, இஸ்ரேல் மக்கள் உண்பதற்கு வேண்டிய மட்டும் பொழியச் செய்தீர் அப்பா. நன்றி ஆண்டவரே.

அதே போல் நாங்களும், பலதடவை உம்மை விட்டுச் சென்றாலும், எங்களை கைவிடாமல், எங்கள் தேவைகள் அனைத்தையும், எங்களுக்காக கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் அப்பா. ஒரு தாய் தன் பிள்ளையை தேற்றி பாதுகாப்பது போல், ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் எம்மை அரவணைத்து வழிநடத்தி வருகிறீர் அப்பா. நன்றி ஆண்டவரே.

இன்றைய நாள் முழுவதும், உம்மை விட்டு விலகிச் செல்லாமல், உம்முடைய வலது கரத்தால் எங்கள் கைகளை பிடித்து, எங்களை அற்புதமாக வழிநடத்தியதற்காக, உமக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறோம். இன்றைய இரவு வேளையிலும், எங்களை உமது அடைக்கலத்திலே ஒப்படைக்கின்றோம். இயேசுவே! எங்களுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கத்தையும், அமைதியான மனநிலையையும் தாரும் அப்பா. அதிகாலையில் முழு ஆன்ம, உடல் நலத்துடன் விழித்தெழுந்து, உமது திருமுகத்தைக் கானும் வரத்தை எங்களுக்கு தந்தருள வேண்டுமென்று உம்மை இறைஞ்சி மன்றாடுகின்றோம். ஆமென்

“invisible screws SHORT STORY” 

A teacher conducted a test. On the question paper was a simple sketch of a chair, with one question: “What’s the most important part of this chair?”

Students wrote answers like: “The legs.” “The seat.”
“The backrest.” and so on.

The teacher shook her head and said, “None of you got it right.” She smiled and explained, “The most important part is the one we don’t take notice of. ‘The screws’ that hold it all together. Without them, the chair would collapse.”

Life works the same way. It is not always the big or visible things that matter most. It’s the unseen support — family, health, kindness and the little choices we make each day.

So let’s never overlook the “invisible screws” in our lives. They are the quiet reasons that we are still standing strong.

MORNING PRAYER

காலை ஜெபம்

“மண்ணுலகும் அதில் நிறைந்துள்ள அனைத்தும் ஆண்டவருடையவை; நிலவுலகும் அதில் வாழ்வனவும் அவருக்கே சொந்தம். ஏனெனில், அவரே கடல்களின்மீது அதற்கு அடித்தளமிட்டார்; ஆறுகள்மீது அதை நிலைநாட்டினவரும் அவரே. ஆண்டவரது மலையில் ஏறத் தகுதியுள்ளவர் யார்? அவரது திருத்தலத்தில் நிற்கக்கூடியவர் யார்?
கறைபடாத கைகளும் மாசற்ற மனமும் உடையவர்; பொய்த் தெய்வங்களை நோக்கித் தம் உள்ளத்தை உயர்த்தாதவர். இவரே ஆண்டவரிடம் ஆசி பெறுவார்; தம் மீட்பராம் கடவுளிடமிருந்து நேர்மையாளர் எனத் தீர்ப்புப் பெறுவார்.
அவரை நாடுவோரின் தலைமுறையினர் இவர்களே; யாக்கோபின் கடவுளது முகத்தைத் தேடுவோர் இவர்களே”.

(திருப்பாடல்கள் 24: 1-6)

என்றும் வாழும் எங்கள் தந்தையே! இந்த அதிகாலை வேளையில் உம்மைப் போற்றுகின்றேன், நன்றி கூறுகின்றேன். நேற்றைய நாள் முழுவதும் என்னைக் காத்து, வழிநடத்திய உம் அன்பிற்காக நன்றி அப்பா.

தந்தையே! உமது திருவுளம் விண்ணுலகில் நிறைவேறுவது போல, மண்ணுலகிலும் நிறைவேறுக.

இறைவா! எங்கே பகைமை நிறைந்துள்ளதோ, அங்கே அன்பையும்; எங்கே கயமை நிறைந்துள்ளதோ, அங்கே மன்னிப்பையும் விதைத்திட அருள்புரியும். இதனால் இயேசுவே! நீர் விதைத்த இறையாட்சி, இப்பூவுலகெங்கும் செழித்து வளர்தோங்குக. உமது இறையாட்சியில் நாங்கள் பங்கு கொள்ளும் பேற்றினை கொடுக்கவிருப்பதற்காக நன்றி அப்பா.

இறைவா! கடந்த 12 மாதங்களில், எங்களது இக்கட்டான காலக்கட்டங்களில் எல்லாம், எங்களோடு இருந்து எங்களைக் காத்து வழி நடத்தினீரே. நன்றி தகப்பனே.

இந்த ஆண்டு, நாங்கள் அலகையின் தூண்டுதல்களினால் செய்த அனைத்து பாவங்களையும் மனமிரங்கி மன்னிப்பீராக.

இறைவா! இந்த நாளை உமது பெயரால் துவக்குகின்றேன். நான் துவங்கும் காரியங்கள் அனைத்திலும் வெற்றியைத் தந்தருளும்.

இயேசு, மரி, சூசை என் இருதயத்தையும், ஆத்துமத்தையும் உங்களுக்கு ஒப்படைக்கின்றேன்.

இரவு செபம்

அடுத்தவர் அறியாமல் அயலானுக்கு உதவிடும்போது, ஆண்டவராகிய நீர் கைமாறு அளிக்கின்றீர் என்று எங்களுக்கு கற்றுக் கொடுத்த இயேசுவே! இன்றைய நாள் முழுவதும் உமது அருளுதவியில் எங்களுக்கு அடைக்கலம் கொடுத்து, உமது அன்பு பிள்ளைகளைப்போல் அரவணைத்து காத்து, வழிநடத்தியதற்காக நாங்கள் உம்மைப் போற்றி புகழ்கின்றோம்.

நாங்கள் இயங்குவதும், இருப்பதும் உம்மாலே; உமது அருட்கரம் எங்களோடு இருந்து, அறவழிகாட்டி, வாழ்வு என்னும் பாதையில் அழைத்துச் சென்று, அற்புதங்கள் செய்து வாழ வைத்ததற்காக நன்றி கூறுகின்றோம். அடுத்தவர் தரும் அங்கீகாரம் அல்ல; ஆண்டவராகிய நீர் தரும் அருள் ஆசீர் அபரிமிதமானது என்பதை உணர்ந்து, ஒவ்வொரு செயலையும் உமது மகிமைக்காக செய்ய, நீர் தந்த அருளுக்காக நன்றி கூறுகின்றோம்.

ஆண்டவரே! சிறிய அளவு செய்தாலும், உள்ளத்திலிருந்து கொடுக்கும்போது, உள்ளத்தை உற்றும் நோக்கும் நீர், உரிய கைமாறு செய்வீர் என்பதை உணர்ந்து, எங்களால் முடிந்ததை பிறருடைய வாழ்வுக்காக வழங்கிட, எங்களைத் தூண்டியதற்காக நன்றி கூறுகின்றோம்.

ஆண்டவரே! இந்த இரவு வேளையில் உறங்கச் செல்லும் நாங்கள், உமது அருட்கரங்களை நோக்கி எங்களுடைய புறக்கரங்களை நீட்டுகின்றோம். உமது காயப்பட்ட கரங்கள், எங்களுடைய உள்மனக் காயங்களை ஆற்றி, தேற்றி இளைப்பாறுதல் தந்து, இனிய உணர்வுகளோடு, உறவுகளோடு புதிய நாளை வாழ்ந்திட வழிகாட்ட வேண்டும் என்று, எங்கள் ஆண்டவராகிய கிறிஸ்து வழியாக உம்மை மன்றாடுகிறோம். ஆமென்.
