PEACE OF MIND

DAILY PRAYER, MORNING PRAYER, EVENING PRAYER

DAILY PRAYER

LIVING

Presence

I bring myself into Your presence, O God. May I always take time to notice and enjoy the beauty You have created for my pleasure.

Freedom

I try to let go of any prejudices and narrow-mindedness that may be clouding my vision at this present moment. I hand them over to God’s merciful care, so I can pray in freedom, truth and clarity.

Consciousness

When I return to my everyday tasks, remind me, Lord, that You are always there beside me.
I need never despair.

The Word of God
John 16:16-20

“A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me.”

Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying to us, ‘A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me,’ and ‘because I am going to the Father’?” They said, “What does he mean by this ‘a little while’? We do not know what he is talking about.”

Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, ‘A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?

Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.

Inspiration

The suffering and death of Jesus on the Cross was truly a shattering experience for his disciples. In the Jewish understanding at that time, it meant that God had abandoned Jesus and thus refuted all that Jesus had done and taught.

The resurrection changed all that and transformed their mourning and their confusion into joy and the courage to go out and proclaim him.

For Christians, the norm in our lives should be quiet joy and confidence in the God who loves and accompanies us on our pilgrim journey. Let us find this now in our prayer time with him.

Conversation

The gift of speech is a wonderful gift. May I use this gift with kindness. May I be slow to utter harsh words, hurtful words, and words spoken in anger.

Conclusion

I thank God for His gift of love as I go forth with joy and hope to serve His people. Amen.

DAILY PRAYER

DAILY PRAYER

PEACE OF MIND

Presence

I hear the Lord whispering my name, inviting me into this time of prayer. I let all other distractions fall away as I bask in the blessing of the nearness of God.

Freedom

I try to let go of concerns and worries that may be dragging me down at this present moment. I place any concerns I have in God’s hands – at least for these few minutes of prayer.

Consciousness

We are all pilgrims on a journey to You, Lord. May we contemplate Your time on earth, and, with Your help, follow in Your footsteps.

The Word of God
John 16:12-15

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

He will glorify me because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Inspiration

The first disciples of Jesus were essentially simple, uneducated men. That they found it hard to take in what Jesus was saying to them is an understatement.

Even today, we still find it difficult, and it has taken centuries of study and brilliant minds to help us grow in our understanding of Jesus’ words.

We need the guarantee of the Holy Spirit that our Church will not err in what it teaches. We give thanks for the gift of the Holy Spirit and pray to be open to his leading us in the truth.

Conclusion

I thank God for these few moments we have spent alone together and for any insights I may have been given concerning the text.
