“Process of filtration”

Filtration is a process by which any material is passed through a certain device to remove unwanted elements in it.
>> Filtration happens every day around the world.
It occurs both in nature and in engineered systems.

For example…
… in many living bodies (including humans), renal filtration removes wastes from the blood
… in water treatment and sewage treatment, undesirable elements are removed by absorption into a filter medium

Every filtration has three basic components:
>> The Feed: The original material with the presence of unwanted elements
>> The Filter: The mechanism/device that does the cleansing
>> The Filtrate: The matter that comes after the process

Our Life as a Christian is also a “process of filtration”

And has three components as well
>> The Feed: Our lives – with our own weaknesses and sinful tendencies
>> The Filter: Jesus, the Crucified Lord – Who Cleanses us
>> The Filtrate: Our life as a Disciple of Christ – lived in holiness and with a sense of mission

Are we willing to allow the “FEED” of our lives to encounter the “FILTER”…
… so that we can emerge as pure and holy “FILTRATE?”

தொண்டனாகவே இருந்து தொலைந்து போகாதே, தகுதிகளை வளர்த்து, நல்ல தலைவனாக முயற்சி செய்!

கிளறாத சோறு வேகாது, சீவாத தலை படியாது, துவைக்காத துணி வெளுக்காது, இவற்றை போல் தான், விளக்காத உண்மை வீணாகி போகும்!!

நீ அறிந்த உண்மைகளை, உரிய நேரத்தில், விளக்கிச் சொல்லாத காரணத்தினால்தான், அநியாயக்காரர்கள் அரியாசனத்தில், ஒட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்க முடிகிறது!!!

இரவு செபம்

வல்லமை நிறைந்த ஆண்டவரே! இன்று முழுவதும் என்னை பாதுகாத்து, வழி நடத்திய உமது மேலான ஆசீருக்காக நன்றி செலுத்துகின்றேன்.

இன்று நான் எண்ணிய எண்ணங்கள், தேவைகள், செயல்திட்டங்கள், செய்து முடித்த பணிகள் அனைத்தையும், உம் பாதத்தில் சமர்ப்பித்து நன்றி கூறுகின்றேன்.

இன்று நான் யாருடைய மனதையாவது புண்படும்படியாக நடந்து இருந்தால், அதற்காக மன்னிப்பு கேட்கின்றேன். உமது அருளினால் தான், நான் இன்று பல்வேறு காரியங்களை செய்ய முடிந்தது.

இன்று எனக்கு நீர் தந்த உணவு, உடை, பாதுகாப்பு அனைத்திற்கும் நன்றி கூறுகின்றேன்.

இந்த இரவில், தீய எண்ணங்கள், கெட்ட கனவுகள் என் மனதில் தோன்றாமல், எம்மை ஆசீர்வதியும்.

எமக்கு அமைதியான தூக்கம் தந்து, அதன் மூலம் நல்ல ஓய்வை கொடுத்து, நாளை புத்துணர்வோடு எழுந்து, என் பணிகளை தொடர வரம் தாரும். ஆமென்.

“LORD, JUST FOR YOU!”

A youngster who was very desperate in life – contemplating even of terminating his life – exasperated and lost…
… was passing along the streets, when he heard the Church bells ringing for the Angelus at noontime.
>> Something in him, made him go inside the Church.

As he went in, he saw a large statue of Jesus…
… with the Sacred Heart of Jesus prominently displayed
>> And underneath the statue were written words…
… beautiful words that would bring him much consolation, hope and joy

So much so, that he would take a resolution to amend his life and to live with greater hope and joy!

The words were as follows:
“As you look into My Heart… remember always, these words…
>> There is an Eye that never sleeps, even beneath the wing of night
… just for you!
>> There is a Ear that never shuts, even when sink the beams of light
… just for you!
>> There is an Arm that never tires, even when human strength gives way
… just for you!
>> There is a Love that never fails, even when earthly loves decay
… just for you!
>> And…
… there is a Heart that never stops beating, even when trials of life lash you hard
… just for you!

This Heart of Mine… is just for you!
Can you also give me your life…?
… and tell me, “LORD, JUST FOR YOU!”

இன்று ஒரு சிந்தனை! *

நாமும் இந்த குடையும் ஒன்றல்ல; தேவை என்றால் தூக்கிப் பிடிக்கவும், தேவையில்லை என்றால் ஓரமாக ஒதுக்கி வைக்கவும்! நாம் உணர்வுள்ள மனிதர்கள்.

வாழ்க்கையில் நிகழ்ந்ததை மறுக்கவம் முடியாது, நிகழ்வதை தடுக்கவும் முடீயாது, நிகழப்போவதை நிறுத்தவும் முடீயாது. இவை அனைத்தையும் நம்மால் கடந்து போக மட்டுமே முடீயும்.

மாற்றம் இல்லாமல், முன்னேற்றம் சாத்தியமில்லை, எண்ணங்களை மாற்றிக் கொள்ள முடியாதவர்களால், வேறு எதையும் மாற்ற முடியாது!

மன அழுத்தங்களை போக்க, எப்போதும் தனிமையை தேடாதே, பிடித்தவர்களிடம் மனம் விட்டு பேசு, அல்லது பிடித்த எதையாவது செய்!!

வாழ்க்கையில் என்ன நடந்தாலும், உடைந்து போகாதே, உன்னை உடைப்பதற்கு ஒரு தருணம் உண்டு என்றால், உன்னை உருவாக்குவதற்கும் பல தருணங்கள் காத்திருக்கும்!!!

Appreciate what you have.

Because the truth is — you never really know.
You never know which hug will be the last…
which simple “goodnight” you won’t get to say again…
which ordinary moment will turn into a memory you’d give anything to relive.

You never know when a voice will fall silent,
or when a smile you took for granted will only live in photographs.

Life doesn’t announce its endings.
It just turns the page — quietly, suddenly — and leaves you staring at the space where something beautiful used to be.

So while your story is still being written,
cherish the laughter, the chaos, the small, imperfect days.
Hold the people you love a little longer.
Say what’s in your heart while you still can.

ஒரு ஆட்டோவில் எழுதப்பட்ட வாசகம்.

உங்களின் வழிச் செலவு,
எங்களின் வாழ்க்கை செலவு.

டிரைவர் சீட்டின் முதுகில் எழுதப் பட்டிருந்தது இந்த வாசகம். இறங்கிய பின் யாரையும் பேரம் பேச விடாது.

மீட்டருக்கு மேல ஐந்து ரூபாய் போட்டுக் கொடுங்க சார் என்கிற வார்த்தைக்கும் இந்த வாசகத்திற்கு எத்தனை வேறுபாடு.

அதனால் தான் சொல்கிறேன்,சொல்லும் விதத்தில் வெல்லலாம்.

ஒரு மொத்த விற்பனை மீன் கடையில் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்த வாசகம்.

மீன் சாப்பிட வேண்டாம் என்று நினைத்தேன். மீனவன் சாப்பிட வேண்டாமா?

வார்த்தைகளில் இல்லை வெற்றி.

அது வெளிவரும் விதத்தில்தான்
வெற்றி இருக்கிறது.

நினைக்கும் விஷயங்களை எல்லாம் பேசாமல் அதை செம்மைபடுத்தி பேசிப்பாருங்கள் வெற்றி நிச்சயம்.

ஒரு ஹோட்டலில் எழுதி மாட்டி இருக்கும் வாசகம்…

வீட்டு சமையலுக்கு ஒரு நாள்
விடுமுறை விடுங்கள்.

மென்மையான சொற்கள்
ஆனால் காரியம் சாதிக்கும்

நேர்மறை எண்ணங்கள்
என்றும் வெற்றியே.

Excuses are the nails that are used to build the house of failure”

We often, manage our lives, basing ourselves on many excuses and justifications…
>> Politicians sometimes make excuses for failure to undertake developmental works blaming their opposition parties.
>> Citizens sometimes make excuses for their inability towards nation-building by purely blaming the corruption among politicians.
>> Motorists or car-drivers sometimes make some excuses and jump signals and violate traffic rules.
>> Traffic inspectors sometimes make some excuses and escape from duties and dump it on someone else.
>> Students sometimes make excuses for their poor performance by blaming the education system.
>> Teachers sometimes make excuses for their loopholes in work by blaming the students and parents for non co-operating.

Are we becoming a Generation of Excuse-givers?

Saint of the broom

Saint of the broom

Portraits, pictures or statues of people, in general, depict and reveal their character and personality.

Usually, if people are asked to have…
… a photograph taken
… or a picture drawn
… or a statue created

They would either prefer just by themselves…
… or posing with some expensive artefacts/costly goods.

What if there is a person in history who preferred instead to pose with a broom!
>> And has most of his images/statues holding a broom…
… along with a cat and dog around him!

So much is his association with the “broom” that he is called as the “Saint of the broom!”

This person is St Martin de Porres.

Born in Lima, Peru, in the 16th century, this saint – being of a mixed race and cast lower as belonging to an inferior social caste – was able to raise his life with the great virtue of selflessness!

So much was his zeal to dedicate his life for the Lord, that he would willingly accept to be a “donado” – a volunteer who performed menial tasks in the monastery…
… in return for the privilege of wearing the religious habit in the community.

He devoted his life to penance, charity and humility…
… spending nights in prayer and penitential practices
… dedicated days in nursing for the sick and caring for the poor – regardless of their color, race, or status
… and reflecting extraordinary gifts: ecstasies that lifted him into the air, light filling the room where he prayed, bi-location, miraculous knowledge, instantaneous cures, and a remarkable rapport with animals!

In St Martin de Porres, humility shone through selfless giving
… expecting nothing in return
… just as the Lord invites us in today’s Gospel.

DO GOOD OUT OF THE WAY

அன்புடன் நன்மை செய்வதற்கு விதிவிலக்குகள் கூட விதி ஆகலாம்!
ஓய்வுநாளில் இயேசு நலம்தரும் இன்னொரு நிகழ்வை இன்றைய நற்செய்தியில் வாசிக்கின்றோம். இந்த நிகழ்வு பரிசேயர் ஒருவருடைய வீட்டில் நடந்தேறுகிறது. அவருடைய வீட்டுக்கு விருந்துக்கு வருகின்ற இயேசு, நீர்க்கோவை நோய் பீடித்திருந்த ஒருவருக்கு நலம் தருகின்றார்.
வெளியிலிருந்து நமக்கு வரும் விதிகள் அல்லது விதிமுறைகளை விட நமக்கு நாமே பல சட்டங்களையும் விதிமுறைகளையும் விதித்து, ‘இப்படி! அப்படி!’ என்று வரையறைகளை இட்டுக்கொள்கின்றோம். வரையறைகளை மீறாமல் இருப்பது நலம் என்றும், வரையறைகளை மீறுதல் தவறு என்றும் பாடம் கற்பிக்கின்றோம். ஆனால், ஒவ்வொரு சூழலும் புதிய பதிலிறுப்பை நம்மிடமிருந்து எதிர்பார்க்கிறது. “அன்பிலும் போரிலும் விதிகள் இல்லை” என்பார்கள்.
தான் கொண்ட அன்பினால் விதிவிலக்கையும் விதி என மாற்றி, விதியைக் கடந்து குனமளிக்கிறார் இயேசு.
நீர்க்கோவை என்னும் நோய் ஆங்கிலத்தில் ‘ட்ராப்ஸி’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. ‘ஹைட்ராப்ஸி’ (‘ஹைட்ரோ’ என்றால் தண்ணீர்) என்ற வார்த்தையே சுருங்கி ‘ட்ராப்ஸி’ என்றழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. ‘நீர்க்கோவை’ என்னும் இந்த நோய் இன்று ‘எடேமா’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. நம் உடலில் தண்ணீர் இரண்டு இடங்களில் சேகரிக்கப்படுகின்றது: ஒன்று, குருதிக் குழல்கள் அல்லது இரத்தக் குழாய்கள்ளூ இரண்டு, திசுக்களுக்கு இடையே உள்ள பகுதி. இந்த இரு இடங்களிலும் தேவைக்கு அதிகமான தண்ணீர் தேங்கி நிற்கும்போது, அந்த இடத்தில் விரலால் அமுக்கினால் அந்த இடத்தில் குழி விழும். இந்த நோய் வரக்காரணம் இதயக்குழாய்களில் ஏற்படும் நெரிசல்.
இந்த இடத்தில் இயேசுவின் இயல்பான, எதார்த்தமான பழகுதல் நமக்கு வியப்பளிக்கிறது. அதாவது, எந்த இடத்திற்குச் சென்றாலும் அங்கே அந்த இடத்தின் தலைவராக அவர் மாறிவிடுகின்றார். இது வெகு சிலருக்கு உள்ள பண்பு. சிலர் எந்த வீட்டுக்குப் போனாலும் உடனடியாக அங்கிருக்கும் அனைவரையும் ஓரங்கட்டிவிட்டு அனைவரையும் தங்கள் பக்கம் ஈர்த்துக்கொள்வார்கள். இயேசு இந்தப் பண்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
தன் முன்னே ஒருவர் நலமற்று அமர்ந்திருக்க, தான் உண்டு குடித்து மகிழ்வதா? என்ற நிலையில் இயேசு அவருக்கு உடனே நலம் தர விழைகின்றார். ஓய்வுநாள் அவருக்குத் தடையாக இருக்கிறது. தான் தன் மனதில் அதைத் தடையாகக் கருதவில்லை என்றாலும், அங்கிருக்கும் பரிசேயர்களின் பொருட்டு அவர்களிடம் வினாத் தொடுக்கின்றார்: ‘ஓய்வு நாளில் குணப்படுத்துவது முறையா? இல்லையா?’ கேள்விக்கு விடை அளிக்காமல் அனைவரும் மௌனம் காக்க, இயேசு நலமற்றவரின் கரத்தைப் பிடித்து அவருக்கு நலம் தருகின்றார்.
ஓய்வுநாளில் விதிவிலக்கு என்று இருந்த ஒன்றை இயேசு விதி என மாற்றுகின்றார். நலமற்றவருக்கு நலம் தருகிறது என்றால், தேவையில் இருப்பவருக்கு உதவி செய்தல் என்றால், அன்பு காட்டுவதில் விதிவிலக்குகள் கூட விதி ஆகலாம் என்பது இயேசு நமக்குத்‌ தரும் செய்தியாக இருக்கின்றது. ஆமென்.
