Thomas Edison, the famous scientist, once worked for months to find a filament…
… that would burn for more than a few seconds, for his incandescent light bulb.
….He tried over 700 filaments and each one was a failure.

One reporter interviewed Edison and said, “It must be frustrating to work so hard and see no results.”
— Edison replied, “Oh, I have lots of results. I now know 700 things that won’t work!”

The person of true research and genuine interest finds meaning even in failures…
… and is able to cast off minor disappointments and setbacks.

Work with a thought.
Four candles burn in a room.
The first candle said: “I am Peace. Sadly, people don’t know how to hold on to me. I don’t see any reason to keep burning.” So saying it went out.
The second candle murmured: “I am Faith. But it seems no one needs me anymore. People don’t care to hear about me, so what’s the point of staying lit?” And Faith’s light was gone.
The third candle sighed: “I am Love. I don’t have the strength to keep my flame alive. People don’t value me anymore, they don’t understand me. Often, they even hurt the very ones who love them most.” And Love, too, went dark.
Just then, a little girl walked in and cried out in fear:
“What are you doing? You’re supposed to stay lit. I’m scared of the dark!”
Then the fourth candle spoke gently: “Don’t be afraid, and don’t cry. As long as I’m burning, the other candles can always be relit. For I am Hope.”
Dear friends, may the flame of Hope always burn bright in our souls.

இரவு செபம்

இரவு நேரங்களில் ஆண்டவரின் இல்லத்தில் பணி செய்யும் ஆண்டவரின் ஊழியரே! நீங்கள் அனைவரும் ஆண்டவரைப் போற்றுங்கள்.

(திருப்பாடல்கள்134:1)

இந்த நாள் முழுவதும் எங்களை வழிநடத்தி வந்த, உமது மேலான இரக்கத்திற்காக கோடான கோடி நன்றி அப்பா! நன்றி ஆண்டவரே! நன்றி மீட்பரே! எங்களைப் பாவம் ஒருநாளும் மேற்கொள்ளாதவாறு, எங்களை காத்திடுமாறு உம்மிடம் மன்றாடுகிறோம்.

இதோ இந்த இரவு நேரத்தில், உம்முடன் பேச வந்திருக்கும் எங்களை ஆசீர்வதித்தருளும். ஆண்டவரே! மாலையில் மலையில் நீர் தனிமையில் சென்று, கடவுளோடு பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தீர், அதுபோல ஆண்டவரே, உம்மோடு பேச நாங்கள் வந்திருக்கிறோம்.

அப்பா இந்த இரவு வேளையில், எத்தனையோ குடும்பங்கள் உண்பதற்கு உணவில்லாமல், பட்டினியோடு தூங்கும் நிலையில் இருப்பதை நாங்கள் காண்கிறோம், குறிப்பாக அகதிகள், பிள்ளைகளால் கைவிடப்பட்ட பெற்றோர்கள், கவனிக்க யாருமில்லாத மனிதர்கள் ஆகியவர்களை நாங்கள் நினைவு கூறுகிறோம்.

அப்பா நீரே அவர்களுக்கு துணையாய் இரும். அவர்களுக்கும் நீரே கடவுள், அவர்களும் உம் பிள்ளைகள் தானே! அவர்களோடு இருந்துருளும். சாத்தானின் சோதனையில் இருந்து அவர்களை காப்பாற்றும்.

அன்பு இயேசுவே! எங்கள் மீட்பரே! இரவில் தூங்குவதற்கு கூட வழியில்லாமல் இருக்கும், ஒவ்வொரு மனிதர்களையும் நினைவு கூர்ந்து ஜெபிக்கிறோம் அப்பா. ஆசீர்வதித்தருளும், பாதுகாத்தருளும், அரவணைத்தருளும், வழிநடத்தும்.

தீய கனவுகள் காணாமலும், அமைதியான தூக்கம் கிடைக்கவும், காலையில் எழுந்து உம்மை மகிமைப்படுத்த எமக்கு வரமருளும். ஆமென்.

காலை ஜெபம் 

திருப்பாடல் : 33

யாழிசைத்து ஆண்டவருக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துங்கள்; பதின் நரம்பு யாழினால் அவரைப் புகழ்ந்து பாடுங்கள். புத்தம்புது பாடல் ஒன்றை அவருக்குப் பாடுங்கள்; திறம்பட இசைத்து மகிழ்ச்சிக் குரல் எழுப்புங்கள். வேற்றினத்தாரின் திட்டங்களை ஆண்டவர் முறியடிக்கின்றார்; மக்களினத்தாரின் எண்ணங்களைக் குலைத்து விடுகின்றார். ஆண்டவரின் எண்ணங்களோ என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்; அவரது உள்ளத்தின் திட்டங்கள் தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாய் நீடித்திருக்கும். தமக்கு அஞ்சி நடப்போரையும் தம் பேரன்புக்காகக் காத்திருப்போரையும் ஆண்டவர் கண்ணோக்குகின்றார்.
அவர்கள் உயிரைச் சாவினின்று காக்கின்றார்; அவர்களைப் பஞ்சத்திலும் வாழ்விக்கின்றார்.

தாழ்ந்தோரை உயர் நிலைக்கு உயர்த்துபவரே! எங்களை எல்லா நலன்களாலும் நிரப்ப வல்லவரே! எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலும் எப்போதும் தேவையானதெல்லாம் எங்களுக்குத் தருபவரே! உம்மை இந்தக் காலை வேளையில் போற்றுகிறோம். துதிக்கிறோம். ஆராதிக்கிறோம். நன்றி கூறுகிறோம். 🙏

ஆண்டவரே! அன்று காழ்ப்புணர்ச்சியின் காரணமாக தனது சகோதரர்களால் அடிமையாக மிதியானியரிடம் விலைக்கு விற்கப்பட்ட யோசேப்பை பார்வோன் மன்னனுக்கு அடுத்த நிலைக்கு உயர்த்தினீரே! புறக்கணித்த கல்லை மூலைக்கல்லாக மாற்றிய ஆண்டவரே உமக்கு நன்றி. 🙏

“நீங்கள் என்னைத் தேர்ந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; நான்தான் உங்களைத் தேர்ந்துகொண்டேன்.” என்று கூறிய எங்கள் இயேசுவே! அன்று மிகச் சாதாரண மக்களை சீடர்களாகத் தேர்ந்து கொண்டு அவர்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் அளித்து பேய்களை ஓட்டவும், பிணிகளைப் போக்கவும் செய்தீர். நீர் முன்குறித்து வைத்தோரை அழைத்தீர். நீர் அழைத்தோரைத் உமக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக்கினீர். உமக்கு நன்றி இறைவா! 🙏

இந்த சமூகத்தில் சாதாரண மனிதர்களாகிய எங்களை அழைத்து, உமது அருளாலும், ஆற்றலாலும் எங்களை வல்லமை மிக்கவர்களாக மாற்றியருளும். உமது இறைத்திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்றும் சிறந்த கருவிகளாக எங்களை மாற்றியருளும்.

St. Padre Pio, born Francesco Forgione on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina, Italy, was a priest celebrated for his profound spirituality and the mysterious stigmata—the Christ-like wounds he bore. From a young age, he was deeply religious, a path encouraged by his devoted family. Despite facing poor health and limited education due to his family’s financial struggles, Francesco was determined to become a friar.

At fifteen, he entered the Capuchin friars, adopting the name ‘Pio.’ He was ordained in 1910 but frequently battled illness. During World War I, Padre Pio briefly served in a medical capacity but was soon discharged because of his health issues. In 1918, while hearing confessions, he began experiencing the stigmata, which miraculously remained uninfected and emitted a sweet scent of roses.

As stories of Padre Pio’s stigmata spread, he attracted both followers and skeptics. Initially, the Vatican limited his public interactions, but eventually, it recognized and supported his ministry. Notably, Padre Pio met the future Pope John Paul II, correctly predicting his rise to the papacy. He used his growing influence to establish a hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo in 1956.

Throughout his life, Padre Pio endured numerous ailments yet remained steadfast in his pastoral duties, offering counsel with his motto, “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” He passed away on September 23, 1968, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 16, 2002. Celebrated each year on September 23, Padre Pio’s legacy as a symbol of unwavering faith endures. He is honored as the patron saint of civil defense volunteers, adolescents, and his hometown of Pietrelcina.

STORY —Augustus Caesar 

After his victory over Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium, Augustus Caesar came back to Rome in triumph.

Among the huge crowd who greeted him, was a man (a bird seller) who had a bird that was taught to say, “Hail, Caesar, victorious!”
>> Augustus Caesar, the victorious king was greatly impressed that the bird was able to utter praises in honor of his victory…
… and bought the bird for a large sum.

Then someone got Caesar aside and whispered to him, that the man had another bird that was just as talented.

The man was summoned and Caesar asked for a demonstration of what the other bird could do.
>> The man selling the birds, however, objected and expressed reluctance…
… but Caesar insisted.

Finally the bird uttered: “Hail, Antony, victorious!”

(The second bird ended up uttering praises to the enemy who had been defeated by Augustus Caesar!)

The birds had been only trained to speak by rote!
>> Their expression was not something “that was really meant”…
>> Their expression was laden with tones of duplicity and lack of genuineness

The Gospel of the Day is a presentation on how people are also very often similar…
… failing to have expressions that are real and genuine!
… falling into the trap of duplicity and double-standardless!

Processional Caterpillars”

Processional Caterpillars

There is a particular type of a caterpillar called as “Pine Processional Caterpillars”.
These “Processional Caterpillars” walk in long lines – each one following closely the next in front.

A noted French naturalist named Jean Henri Fabre, once conducted an experiment on them.

He took a flowerpot and placed of a number of these “Processional Caterpillars” in a single-file around the circumference of the rim of a flower-pot.
Each caterpillar’s head touched the one in front of it.

He then placed the caterpillar’s favorite food in the middle of the pot.

He was surprised to observe that each of the caterpillar followed the one ahead, thinking it was heading for the food.
Round and round went these insects – for several days!

Finally, after many days of this absurd activity, the caterpillars started to drop dead – because of exhaustion and starvation!

All that they had to avoid the snare of death was to stop the senseless rounding around the pot…
…. and head, instead, directly to the food, that was placed less than six-inches away from them!

However, these “Processional Caterpillars” were trapped in a lifestyle which made them to only follow the one ahead..
… and were unable to “disentangle” themselves from the habit of ‘blindly’ following others!

இன்று ஒரு சிந்தனை! 

அளவு கடந்த தர்மம், உன்னை பிச்சைக்காரன் ஆக்கலாம், ஆனால் உன் வாரிசுகளை, கோடீஸ்வரனாக்கி அழகு பார்க்கும்!

சேமிப்பும் சரி, கடனும் சரி, சிறிது சிறிதாக தெரியும் தொகை, அதிகரித்து கொண்டே இருந்தால், ஒரு நாள் பெரியதாய் வளர்ந்து நிற்கும்!!

சேமிப்பாக இருந்தால், வாழ்க்கையை ஆச்சரியக்குறி ஆக்கி விடும், அதுவே கடனாக இருந்தால், உன் வாழ்க்கை கேள்விக்குறி ஆகி விடும்!!!
