The passage from the Book of Judith presents a woman who becomes an instrument of God's saving action. After a moment of great danger and suffering, Judith gives praise to God, recognizing that victory belongs to Him. Her courage, faith and trust transformed a situation of fear into one of hope and rejoicing.
Today, as we celebrate Mary, Mother of Sorrows, we see a similar mystery in her life. Mary too walked through moments of uncertainty, pain and deep sorrow. She witnessed the rejection, suffering and death of her beloved Son. Yet she never abandoned her faith in God. Like Judith, Mary placed herself completely in God's hands.
Mary's sorrow was not meaningless. Her suffering became a participation in the saving mission of her Son. At the foot of the Cross, when every human hope seemed lost, Mary remained faithful. She stood there—not because she understood everything, but because she trusted God completely.
Judith's story reminds us that God can bring victory out of what appears to be defeat. Mary's life reveals the same truth in its deepest form: the Cross was followed by the Resurrection; sorrow gave way to joy; darkness gave way to light.
As Servites, we are called to learn from Mary to stand beside those who suffer. There are people around us who carry invisible crosses—those who are lonely, grieving, rejected, anxious or discouraged. Like Mary, may we not turn away from their suffering. May our presence become a source of comfort and hope.
Today, let us bring our own sorrows before Mary. Perhaps we carry personal pain, family concerns, difficulties in our communities or worries about the future of our Congregation. Mary understands every wounded heart because she herself walked the way of sorrow.
Mary teaches us that sorrow does not have the last word. Faith does. Hope does. Love does. And ultimately, joy does.

Seven Milestones – The Servite Journey
1. INDIA – A Journey of Faith and Service
As we stand before the milestone of India, we remember with gratitude the sisters who planted and nurtured the Servite charism in our country. Through their prayer, sacrifice, education, pastoral ministry and loving service, they became instruments of God's compassion.
May we continue their legacy with generous hearts, remaining faithful to the Servite spirit and bringing hope to the people entrusted to our care as we light the lamp.

2. MYANMAR – A Journey of Courage and Perseverance
The milestone of Myanmar reminds us of the courage of our sisters who served God's people with dedication, often amid challenging circumstances. Their lives remind us that the Gospel calls us to persevere even when the journey is difficult.
May Mary, Mother of Sorrows, strengthen all our sisters serving in Myanmar and give them courage, peace and steadfast faith as we light up the lamp.

3. AUSTRALIA – A Journey of Witness and Welcome
The milestone of Australia reminds us of the Servite presence that crosses cultures and boundaries. In a new environment, our sisters have sought to witness to God's love through community, service and hospitality.
May our Servite communities continue to be places of welcome, communion and joyful witness to Christ as we light the lamp.

4. ITALY – A Journey Rooted in Our Charism
The milestone of Italy takes us back to our roots and to the spiritual heritage of the Servite family. We remember with gratitude those who handed down the charism of compassionate service and devotion to Mary, Mother of Sorrows.
May we remain deeply rooted in our charism and draw from our spiritual heritage the strength to face the needs of our time as we light the lamp.

5. PHILIPPINES – A Journey of Generosity and New Life
The milestone of the Philippines reminds us of the generosity of those who have embraced the Servite vocation and offered their lives in loving service. Their joyful commitment is a sign that the charism continues to bear fruit in new places and cultures.
May God bless our sisters in the Philippines and inspire many young women to discover the joy of giving their lives in God's service as we light up the lamp.

6. SRI LANKA – A Journey of Hope and Compassion
The milestone of Sri Lanka reminds us that the Servite mission is a journey of compassion—standing close to people in their joys and sorrows. Mary, who stood faithfully at the foot of the Cross, teaches us to remain close to those who suffer.
May our sisters in Sri Lanka continue to be compassionate witnesses, bringing healing, hope and God's loving presence to all as we light the lamp.

7. THE MILESTONE OF COMMUNION – Those Who Have Gone Before Us and Those Yet to Come
As we reach the seventh milestone, we pause with gratitude and hope.
We remember all the departed members of our Servite Congregation—our sisters, priests, benefactors, collaborators and all those who served the congregation and have gone before us. Their lives were milestones along our journey. Their prayers, sacrifices, fidelity and loving service have helped to build the congregation we have today.
We also look beyond the present moment and remember all those whom God is calling to join our Servite family in the future. They are not yet known to us, but they are already known and loved by God. May the Lord touch their hearts and lead them towards the Servite vocation.
The seventh milestone joins the past, the present and the future. We stand on the faith of those who came before us, we carry the responsibility of the present, and we entrust the future of our congregation into God's hands. May the prayers of our departed sisters accompany us, and may new vocations arise to carry the Servite charism forward as we light the lamp.

CONCLUDING PRAYER
Loving and merciful God,
we thank You for bringing us together in the presence of Mary,
our Mother of Sorrows and Cause of Our Joy.
Loving and merciful Father,
you gave us Mary, the Sorrowful Mother,
as a faithful companion beneath the Cross
and a joyful witness to the Resurrection.
As we have journeyed through the Seven Sorrows of Mary,
we have seen her faith in moments of uncertainty,
her courage in moments of suffering,
her silence in moments of pain,
and her unwavering hope at the foot of the Cross.
Mary, our Mother,
teach us to treasure God's word in our hearts,
to accept His will with trust,
to remain faithful in times of trial,
and to stand lovingly beside those who suffer.
Mary, Mother of Sorrows,
