Theme: “Mary’s Willingness to Move in Faith, Wherever God Leads.”
Mary’s life was a journey of continual movement. From Nazareth to Bethlehem, from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, and now from Bethlehem to Egypt, she willingly moved from one place to another according to God’s plan.
The flight into Egypt was not an easy journey. Mary had to leave behind the security of her home and familiar surroundings. She did not know how long she would remain in Egypt or what the future would hold. Yet, she did not resist God’s call. She simply trusted and moved forward, carrying Jesus with her.
Mary teaches us that following God sometimes means being willing to move—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—from what is familiar to what God is asking of us. There are times when we are comfortable where we are, but God may invite us to move beyond our comfort zones, to accept a new responsibility, to serve in a new place, or to begin a new chapter in our lives.
Mary did not ask, “Why should I leave?” She trusted the One who was leading her. Her willingness to move became an expression of her complete surrender to God's will.
As religious women and servants of God's people, we too may be called to move from one place to another, leaving behind people, places and ministries that have become precious to us. Such moments can bring sadness and uncertainty. But Mary reminds us that our true home is wherever God wants us to be, and our greatest security is Jesus whom we carry within us.
Today, let us ask ourselves:
Am I willing to move when God asks me to move?
Can I leave behind what is familiar without allowing attachment to weaken my obedience?
Do I trust that God goes before me wherever He sends me?
May Mary, who journeyed courageously into the unknown, teach us to say:
“Lord, wherever You lead me, I am willing to go.
Whatever You ask of me, I am willing to do.
Wherever You send me, I will carry Jesus with me.”
Prayer:
Mary, Mother of Sorrows, teach us your spirit of willingness, trust and surrender. Help us to move joyfully wherever God calls us and to discover His presence in every new place and every new mission. May we never be afraid of change when it is God's invitation to grow, serve and love more deeply. Amen.
